About Me

My name is Esther and I live with my spouse and two children in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. I am passionate in coaching beginners, elementary and intermediate pianists of all ages. My teaching approach promotes diversity and balance, and is heavily influenced under the guidance of leading music Canadian pedagogues, Dr. Sabrina Chang, and Dr. Merlin Thompson. I focus on building a strong foundation in technique and core concepts (literacy and aural). I encourage exploring music of all genres and creative exploration of sounds, be it interpreting another musical work or composing/improvising. I am a firm believer that success in music education takes hard work, discipline and teamwork from students, parents and teacher. I prepare committed students for performance opportunities at local and national music festivals, as well as examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) or Conservatory Canada (CC).

It's been almost 30 years of piano for me ... and still counting! Besides classical music, I am a huge fan of Disney, Studio Ghibli, Anime/Video Game/Movie Theme Music. I enjoy playing in ensembles, jazz ballads, lyrical, and improvising contemporary pop tunes by ear. I love to sing and self-accompany at the piano and casually play the guitar.

Now, you've heard all about me, it's your turn! What are your goals and aspirations? Tell me your story and I would love to be a part of your musical journey.

“Esther is very, very calm and patient with my daughter. She loves her lessons. Lessons are played with current and upbeat music that my daughter all knows and loves. She is accommodating and personal for each student.”
